Framing of Marine Prints

Many people find selecting framing a difficult process. We have carefully put together some attractive framing options which we hope you like. If you find one of these options to your taste, we can deliver your picture to your door, ready to hang anywhere in the UK.

However, if you prefer, you may purchase a picture and take it to your own framer. You will then have the opportunity to choose from an infinite choice of different framing and mounting options. We would recommend that your framer is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild who promote a high level of service through the Guild's commended framer approval scheme.

We include a framing advice sheet with your purchase which you can pass on to your framer.

Lithographs - Printed on paper

Carefully framed in our own studios.

  1. The lithograph is carefully secured to an under-mount / barrier board using archival quality Japanese hinges. This is an acid-free method which will not harm the print and is fully reversible.
  2. The lithograph is then carefully set in an ivory over-mount. This is decorated with a traditional hand drawn line wash.

    We only use 'Conservation' quality mount board and barrier board with a 'Stay-white' core.)

  3. The mounted lithograph is then set into a solid wood gild frame. Genuine picture glass is used.
  4. The picture comes complete and ready to hang.

Giclée on Canvas (Pronounced Jee-Clay)

Carefully framed in our own studios.

Before framing, a Giclée on canvas is carefully checked to ensure that it is in perfect condition. It will then be given two coats of protective varnish. It is checked again, and finally signed and numbered by the artist on the reverse.

The Giclée is then carefully framed in our own studios.

  1. The Giclée on canvas is firstly stretched just like an original oil painting, using wooden stretcher pieces.
  2. The stretched canvas is then set directly into a hand-made frame. The frame has been carefully selected to compliment the picture. We feel that it looks almost like an original oil painting. The frame is of solid wood, gilded 2¼ inch (6cm approx) wide with a decorative detailing.

If you are ordering a Giclée rolled, then your framer should be able to carry out the above with no problems. However, if you have any problems obtaining items such as 'Stretcher bars', we are able to supply them separately. Please contact the Studios and we will arrange for them to be sent to you.
